Mustache For A Frog

For as long as the Frog, a struggling painter, could remember he had always admired mustaches. Perhaps because he couldn’t grow one on his own. Or perhaps because... Well, no, it was pretty much all because he couldn't grow one on his own. End of story.

One day the Frog was at home trying on different mustaches by drawing them on a mirror then standing in front to see how they looked. It was much fun to see himself in different mustaches but ultimately the Frog decided he liked the 'Dali' style of mustache the best. The kind where you have two straight lines going basically straight up towards the cheeks.

From them on every wish the Frog ever made he wished for a Dali mustache of his own. He didn’t want to draw one on nor could he purchase a fake mustache at the store because they didn't have them in his size. Plus the global supply chain was in shambles so even custom ordering online was really out of the question.

The Frog dreamed every day what it would be like to have a 'Dali' mustache. All of his friends would be so taken with how handsome he looked, how refined, how smart and how charismatic. But most importantly they would look at him and his paintings with reverence just as the world looked at the mustache's namesake Salvador Dali.

The Frog knew this mustache was the only shot he had at becoming a famous and successful painter. His lack of mustache was the only thing holding him back. So the Frog abandoned the paintings he decided to work on that day in order to figure out, once and for all, how to get a mustache.

The Frog decided he needed to use the materials he had available to him, he could stitch together various hairs from his friends if they were willing to lend him some? But it would be too embarrassing even just to ask. Or he could try to place hair growth serum on his lip? But that could take some time. Or, he could take some paintbrushes and remove all the paintbrush hairs from them, then take those fine paintbrush hairs and dye them in black ink then take those ink-dyed strands and weave them together into a perfect, long, thin, mustache.

Which is what he did. Now, the Frog went to try the mustache on and see how it looked in the mirror.

"Wow," The Frog said audibly looking at his reflection, "I look... So cool."

The Frog strutted his stuff with his new mustache. He was loving his new look and couldn't wait for everyone to see him and start respecting him as an artist and painter .

Then came a knock at the door. A friend, a Squirrel, entered.

"Hey, Dale I..." The Squirrel paused, "Um, wow...look at… that's a... that's a mustache..."

"Right?" The Frog responded, "Isn't it great?"

"Um... yeah, if you like it go for it dude." The Squirrel reluctantly offered.

"I love it. How can I help you?" The Frog asked.

"Well I was looking to commission a painting from you." The Squirrel replied.

The mustache was already working. The Frog rejoiced, ‘people can see my genius now that this mustache is here. Hallelujah!’

"Well of course I can get a painting done for you..." The Frog exclaimed.

"When could it be done by?" The Squirrel inquired, "I kind of need it soon for a last minute gift on Sunday. I'd of course compensate you for the quick job."

"Oh, sorry, you might need to check with someone else, I'm out of paintbrushes at the moment and need to go into town to get some."

"Oh, that’s so unfortunate! It’s okay though, no worries," The Squirrel answered.

The Frog was joyous. Someone had asked for a commission art piece? That had never happened before! And it was all thanks to the mustache! What a brilliant idea to go all in on the mustache, Dale thought.

"One last thing, Dale..." The Squirrel said before leaving, "Do you know anyone else that could paint a picture for me?"
