The Mouse Is Stuck
The Mouse couldn’t believe she was stuck. She had never been as stuck as she was right now.
“I knew I shouldn’t have chased the nibble of cheese that fell behind the counter,” the Mouse thought to herself, “Now I will have to wait here till someone comes and rescues me or until I can wiggle out of this crevice”
The Mouse tried to wriggle and wiggle and work her way out but it was of no use at all. She was, as mentioned, as stuck as she had ever been.
“I wish I could grease myself up somehow, that would surely do it!”
“I wish I could have someone hoist me from behind, that would surely do it!”
“I wish I could just squeeze my rump a little tighter, that would surely do it!”
The Mouse was not one to give in to despair so she wasn’t even thinking about anything negative. She knew if she just remained positive and kept thinking of ideas she’d land on one that could get her unstuck.
“Well maybe if I just sit here long enough I’ll lose enough weight and I’ll be able to wriggle myself lose that way”
“Or maybe I could… wait… hold on…”
The Mouse suddenly remembered it was her New Years Resolution to lose weight anyway.
“Well, I guess I didn’t say how I was going to lose weight, now did I?” The Mouse perked up, “This might be the easiest resolution I’ve ever done!”
So the Mouse just waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and waited, and…
“I think I just lost some weight, I can feel it melt away! At this rate I’m sure to be unstuck in no time at all!”
And then, the Mouse waited some more..
