There He Is!

A Bear, A Raccoon, and A Lizard were long-time friends who were meeting up for a weekend retreat. The three had not seen each other for a number of years, an amount that honestly felt crazy when they thought about it, but with how quickly life moves as you grow older - not that surprising.

The three had rented a cabin in the woods and the Bear, named Dennis, was the first to arrive. He scoped the place out and claimed his room since he got their first and had the honors.

No sooner had Dennis put his stuff down when he heard a door open and the familiar sound of his buddy Ronnie, the Raccoon, at his door.

"There he is!" Exclaimed Ronnie with a big smile.

"There he is!" Dennis returned, with a big smile of his own.

The two chatted and caught up and waited for their third friend Lattimore, the Lizard, to arrive. It wasn’t long before the door creaked open and Lattimore came bounding down the hallway with his own hearty:

"There they are!" Lattimore shouted.

"There he is!" Dennis and Ronnie responded.

With all the 'there he is's' out of the way, the three got to the important work of catching up on life and having a good time together. There was no better way to do this than to find a place with food and beer and drinks and drinks and beer and beer .

When the three sat down they started talking fast and quick and overtop of each other and finishing thoughts and using shorthand — It's quite frankly hard to transcribe here. Even if one were to try the best one could do would be snippets of conversations here and there:

"It's gigantic!"

"How far could you shoot it realistically?"

"Well, we're talking time frame now right?"

"Dude that thing was so good!"

"Remind me and I'll send you one,"

“Remember when you lost your pants?”

“No that’s water fowl not foul water!”

“Beep-Beep, I’m a Jeep!”

Eventually, the server who had been pleasantly waiting on our three boys all night ventured a question:

"How can you all understand each other when you’re all talking so much and so fast?" She asked.

The three old friends thought for a moment:

"Well, we’ve known each other a long time,” the Bear ventured a guess, “We’ve already talked… for a long time.

"Yeah, we have a lot to catch up on" the Raccoon added, “And really we just need to hear the big new events that happened but the details pretty much flesh themselves out based on history.”

"Yeah, all that and we have a lot to say to each other before we die" Lattimore concluded.

The friends laughed in that dark and morbid way old friends often do. They went back to talking and the young server continued on with her night:

“I hope I never get old,” she thought.
