A Couple of Nerds
A Mouse and a Hedgehog decided to spend the day at the park. It was a lovely day and it seemed the only proper way to spend it was in the great outdoors, enjoying the sunshine and fresh air. The two buddies packed up a few blankets, some snacks, a bottle of wine and headed out.
Unfortunately, the moment the two entered the park a glaring issue revealed itself — The park was super crowded.
“How is it possible that everyone decided today was the day to go to the park?” The Mouse asked, incredulous, “We can’t all think alike can we?”
“Well it seems illogical, but I’m afraid that must be the case.” The Hedgehog answered.
“Where else can we go that isn’t crowded?” The Mouse wondered.
“The library?” Offered the Hedgehog.
“Ew, no, we’re not nerds.”
“Well then what about the amusement park?”
“That’s still technically a park isn’t it? So it will probably be crowded also.”
The friends thought about where they could go where it wouldn’t be so crowded. It was tough to think of a place. If everyone thought as they did then everywhere the two might think to go will be crowded because everyone will have thought to go there.
“The key is, I think, to go somewhere where we wouldn’t want to go,” thought the Mouse out loud, “That place won’t be crowded, right?” The Mouse concluded.
“That’s a pretty good idea, actually.” The Hedgehog concurred.
“So where don’t we want to go?” The Mouse asked.
“Hmm, how about… The library?” The Hedgehog replied.
“Ugh, no, I hate the library…” the Mouse responded, incredulous, “Oh, I see what you’re saying, yeah let’s try the library. Do they let you drink wine and eat snacks in the Library though?”
“I don’t think they let you, but we can try and see what happens.”
The two left the park and made their way to the library. The Mouse was really not excited about this. He never felt like he fit in at the library because it was usually full of nerds that were much smarter than the Mouse. As such, the Mouse hadn’t been to a library for years.
When the two finally made it to the library the Hedgehog led the way but the Mouse entered cautiously. He looked around to make sure no one was staring at him. That the nerds couldn’t sense that someone who wasn’t a nerd had entered their territory.
“See, I knew it!” The Hedgehog exclaimed, “There isn’t anyone here!”
Indeed, the library was empty. Apparently it was such a nice day even the nerds didn’t want to spend it inside. This thrilled the Hedgehog and the Mouse to no end. They even found a little area inside where no one could see them and they had an indoor picnic with their snacks and wine, right in the library, like a couple of nerds. Which the Mouse decided wasn’t so bad after all.
