A Night At The Drive-In

An Opossum and an Owl were planning on seeing a movie at the local drive-in theater. The Opossum was excited because he had saved one banana to eat while he watched the movie. Banana was the Opossum’s all-time favorite movie snack.

“The Owl must be on his way to pick me...”

BZZ BZZ

5 minutes away

Read a text message from the Owl.

The Owl’s text interrupted the Opossum’s thoughts and answered them as well.

“A terrific interruption,” the Opossum thought to himself. “Now let me gather my things so that I can get in the car as soon as the Owl Arrives.”

The Opossum gathered all the things he thought he might need for the movie. He gathered his wallet and his e-ticket, his phone and his bottle of water, and then he went outside to wait for his friend.

The Owl pulled up and said to the Opossum, “Perfect timing! I think we’ll even have enough time to watch the sunset before the movie starts!”

“What a joy!” said the Opossum. “A sunset and a movie are among my two favorite things to watch.

The Opossum lumbered into the Owl's car and took his seat. Ready to head out for the night.

"I can tell I'm very excited because I don’t even have that feeling like I must have forgotten something.” Noticed the Opossum.

“That’s a great feeling not to have” agreed the Owl.

The two took off for the movie while the banana sat idly and lonely in the Opossum’s kitchen, sad that it was not important enough to remember to take on an adventure. It's the type of feeling that really brings a banana down and makes it feel rotten and brown.

(Just kidding, it’s an inanimate banana, it had no conscious idea that it was left behind)

“OH MY GOODNESS STOP THE CAR!” The Opossum shrieked at the top of it’s lungs.

“Colon-OSCOPY!” The Owl yelled -- well -- the Owl swore, to be more accurate, as he hit the brakes. And the Owl never swore, that’s how much the Opossum’s cry threw the Owl off.

"What could possible be the matter?” The Owl asked.

“I forgot my snack! I forgot my snack! It was a banana! It is my favorite movie snack! Please can we go back?”

“Are you sure you forgot it?"

"No doubt in my mind."

"But we'll miss the sunset!”

“Please! I’ll show you another sunset tomorrow!”

“Here, I brought some Buncha Crunch that I am happy to share. How about that?”

The Opossum considered this offer.

“Is Buncha Crunch your favorite movie snack?” Inquired the Opossum.

“It is,” replied the Owl.

“Would you say that you love it?”

The Owl considered this. He considered for quite a long time. Longer than you’d think it would take to come up with an answer.

“No, I would not say that I love Buncha Crunch. Though I do feel towards Buncha Crunch the highest level of like before crossing over into love. Does that make sense?”

"Of course," replied the Owl, "So, would you be sad if you had forgotten your Buncha Crunch and couldn’t enjoy them during the movie tonight?”

The Owl knew the answer was an instantaneous yes. The Owl could not argue with this point.

The Owl began to turn around so the Opossum could get his banana for the movie. They drove back towards the Opossum’s house.

“Are you sure the sun is going to set tomorrow?" Asked the Owl.

"Positive." Replied the Opossum.

"And you're sure we'll go watch the sunset together?"

"Absolutely," The Opossum was enthusiastic, "I'm already planning my snack for it..."
