Fun Here Or Fun There?

Two River Otters were playing at the river. The two played at the river more than any other place they ever played.

"Why don't we ever play anywhere else?" Eliana asked her friend.

"Where else would you want to play?" Dinaz answered.

"Hmm..." Eliana thought, "I don't know where else I'd want to play."

"Well there's your answer," Dinaz replied.

The two continued to play but Eliana couldn't shake the feeling she had. Why did she always feel like going to the same place and doing the same things was so bad? Maybe it was because there was a big wide world out there and just going to the same place over and over again felt like they weren't seeing as much as they could possibly see.

Meanwhile, Dinaz continued to have the time of her life. She just focused on squeezing out as much fun as possible in every moment that she could. She had never really considered that there was any more fun to be had anywhere else. She figured, what was the point if she was already having fun?

"Are you having fun?" Dinaz thought to ask Eliana.

"Of course, I'm having fun!" Eliana responded, "Why wouldn't I be?"

"Well, you were just asking about maybe going somewhere else so I figured you weren't having any fun." Dinaz replied.

Eliana thought about this for a moment. She was having fun, but 25% of her mind was elsewhere, thinking about having more fun. So really she was only 75% here and that’s not a very good percentage of the available brain for fun...

Oh...

“Nevermind,” Eliana said.

It clicked.
